After the catastrophic earthquake that hit Haiti 's Port - au - Prince, problems related to the stability of the country' s future have emerged. Although the number of victims is estimated to be from tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands, the estimated scale and variance indicates that the earthquake caused damage and confusion. As Haitian people begin to rebuild their lives and the long and difficult work of that country, we must ask how such impact impacts on potential political and social stability It will not.
Natural disasters are caused by hydrological meteorology, climate, geophysical and biological phenomena that adversely affect the natural environment and the building environment of the disaster area. Their influence on victims and property damage exceeds the ability of the community to self-heal and needs external assistance (GUHA - SAPIR et al., 2012; NOY, 2010; ALCĂNTARA - AYALA, 2002, pp. 109-110). The World Bank and UN report (2010) revealed past decisions (individuals and groups) on land management (including unregulated growth in urban areas), construction technology, implementation of health infrastructure, and low investment . Cumulative impact education program, poverty alleviation, social integration. These decisions, combined with high-intensity natural phenomena such as floods, landslides, storms and earthquakes, have caused various socio-economic and environmental influences.
In previous chapters, we focus on the relationship between environmental factors and the most common natural disasters (floods, landslides, etc.) and demonstrate the interdependence of sustainable social, economic and environmental aspects did. This approach aims to clarify the compliance between the three aspects of sustainability and the four disaster paradigms as a starting point for the development and implementation of the disaster management plan. As already mentioned, reducing efforts depends on systematically dealing with complex interactions between unique physical, environmental and social factors, so such efforts are very emerging (Video, eg INGRAM et al., 2006).
