In this article we focused on the 12th grade business leadership class and discussed my observations and considerations on ESL students' second language learning process. The reason for choosing this particular class is that in my first internship I am studying in the 12th grade business class and have no chance to see the ESL language class. However, I believe this internship was a valuable experience to understand how ESL students interact with teachers and classmates, and how these interactions affect learning processes.
ESL (English as Second Language) teacher or ELL (English Learner) teacher are responsible for providing courses and support for students studying English as a second language. ESL teachers often use actual environments to help students acquire language complexity. ESL teachers are sensitive, creative and sensitive to the cultural differences expected when working with international students. Normally, people who teach English as a second language can also be tutors and consultants for students who just set themselves in new circumstances.
Students who speak English as a second language - students like me may have extra hardships. Michael LeBlanc of the University of Massachusetts Boston said "ESL students learn new languages and university culture and are learning languages in English and new American culture." Some of the high school students at the University of Massachusetts Boston are registered in the dual registration program and some of the teachers are working at the Boston public school with the GEAR UP program, Mr. LeBlanc said. This will help low-income junior high and high school students prepare for the university. High school students need to access the university course (double registration, AP or IB course) and prepare genuine before graduating from high school.
In the last 17 years as an educator for 29 years, I taught English (ESL) as a second language. The purpose of teaching ESL is to provide students with 21st century skills combined with language acquisition. Unfortunately, English learner (ELL) strives to maintain low emotion filter while acquiring these skills. I discovered that game based learning enhances students' motivation, reduces anxiety and makes it possible to make all grades safe when trying new courses.
Some junior high school teachers teach specialized courses such as art, music, sports, English as second language. English (ESOL) teachers for ESL or other languages work exclusively with students studying English. These students are often referred to as English learners (ELL). ESL and ESOL teachers will work together to help students improve their English skills individually or in groups and complete assignments to other courses.
