Red Kayak is a young adult novel by American writer Priscilla Cummings. It was first released in 2004

Red Kayak wrote from the point of view of a 13-year-old boy named Braden Parks, a family of poor crab catchers living in Chesapeake Bay, Maryland. As a wealthy family, DiAngelos buys a property Brady, and his friends are accustomed to enjoying the water. One day, Brady saw a red kayak owned by DiAngelos enter the river with bad weather. Brady's story from the future which is the literal voice of the novel told the serious outcome of the decision that Brady will not warn passengers of the kayak and later later reveals Mrs. Di Angelo and her three-year-old son, Ben Did. Kayaks turned over, bravely rescued this known as a hero, and suffered from sorrow when Ben died in the hospital in a short time.

Brady relieved his sorrow by working for the property of the DiAngelo family but it found evidence that the kayak was destroyed by his two friends, JT and Digger. Destruction involves a way that Brady thinks it is an illusion, although it was not intended to be carried out: to drill a hole in the bottom of the kayak and to block them with a water soluble filler. In the central part of this book, Brady faces friends, feels responsible, conceals evidence, reviews the correct course of action, and generally suffers weakness, inner and moral conflict.

In the last part of the book, Brady did "right" things and told his father everything. They repaired the kayak that was still sunk in the water, and clearly showed a hole drilled in the hull. Brady testified to the authorities who agreed to immunize him in exchange for his testimony. After all, he was relieved that the decision passed to his friend was not so harsh: the forest of 9 months was restored with a minor work camp. DiAngelos sells their property and starts over from other places. Life continues to be brady, he was a best friend in the past

The novel covers the life of Brady for about 6 months, but the nature of the story needs to be restored frequently to the early occurrence. In fact, The Red Kayak opened in the fall of Brady in the ninth grade and returned to the event last spring. Red Kayak sinking of DiAngelos led to the death of their infant 's son Ben. Brady remembered the story of his friend Digger and J. T to wait for school on a cold morning in April. Three boys saw a red kayak heading to the river and did not issue any warning despite bad weather. Brady soon knew that the kayak had disappeared in the second half of the day so he immediately regretted the decision and Mrs. Di Angol and her son Ben were on board. In the past, as a babysitter of DiAngelos, Brady was eager to help with the search, finally found Ben and revived it.
