Dave Barry is the author and speaker of the story of Red, White, Beer. This story is a satire and ridiculates many 'American and patriotic' ads on television for public viewing. The audience are all readers, and their aim is to show "patriotism" in American commercials. Barry explains how ordinary Americans are being cheated by what they see on television. They are often confused by wrong patriotism of commercial advertisements. Barry includes beer as he insists that beer is one of the only patriotic companies there. Barry is just sarcasm since drinking beer does not show any form of patriotism or belongs to the country.

In "Red, White and Beer" Barry looked at the famous beer name Miller. Mr. Barry tastes like "mouse saliva", he said that there is no difference between beer buyers. Not only did he cancel the consumer with this option, he made fun of the advertiser. He ridiculed the advertiser about thinking that a man drinking beer when building a house is either form of patriotism.
