This sampler contains stimulus reading paragraphs containing test questions, independent questions, and pattern-specific writing hints tailored to the anchor points of ratings based on the Pennsylvania Core Standard. These paragraphs represent several types of PDE approvals as described in the PCS-based operational PSSA. The test problem provides the concept of the type of project that may be displayed on the PCS based operational PSSA. Each sample test problem has undergone a rigorous review process in order to ensure consistency with the evaluation website.

The following is an example of a question - each is consistent with a common core reading subject standard - and can be used to analyze and interpret artworks with students. Many of these problems arise from the learning community of museum educators in Chicago that are organized and sponsored by the Terraamerican Art Foundation, a model of museum education practice, the center of American art learning in the United States. These issues have long been used by educators in many museums, but support the practice of detailed reading and analytical thinking that is particularly needed in the Common Core State Standard (CCSS). In this standard, it is also required to instruct people to use various kinds of texts such as visual effects and cross-text reading. This resource is designed to help teachers incorporate American art into their educational tracks in a standards-compliant way.
