Reading and resurrecting reading skills is important for children to succeed at school and throughout their lives. However, reading in America is very few. Indeed, according to recent national educational progress assessment, 44% of American students are below the "basic" level. In other words, there is little or no knowledge or skills to complete a job at the grade level (Collins, 79). ) With these statistics, school districts, guardians, students had to scramble to find a tendency to reverse reading disability.
Schools that participate in the AmeriCorps / Reading Recovery program must already be Reading Recovery School. The main monitor of the program is, of course, a reading recovery teacher who is very familiar with the original reading restoration training program. This person will provide 150 hours of initial training for AmeriCorps volunteers, as well as additional training and follow-up training. Teachers / leaders of reading restoration also provide the materials used in the program. Students will be elected to the course after the class teacher has been identified. They are students with little reading problems and therefore do not meet the standard reading recovery criteria for tutoring services. Normally, children with the lowest risk only read less than 20% of children, but under standard reading restoration counseling for certified teachers, children with low risk will receive volunteers from AmeriCorps as counselors.
Reading at AmeriCorps is a variant of the original reading restoration education program that is well suited to the use of volunteers. The original plan (Wasik & Slavin 1993; Pinnell, Lyons, DeFord, Bryk & Seltzer 1994) is used only by certified reading leaders and the AmeriCorps version program trains community volunteers paid from AmeriCorps. Students will provide counseling services. As with the recovery of the original reading, the course is designed for students reading under the first grade level.
I am a well-trained reading recovery teacher. Reading recovery is an intervention reading course for first graders. As a requirement of this kind of training, the whole year use by the students related to mistakes or confusions to support students with reading base, early readers' support method, clear strategy, and necessary content, strategies or skills I will devote myself to understanding the language to be done. The training year is very intense. A trained teacher needs to teach the course behind a one - way glass where students can see the lesson. We will then provide feedback and improve the course structure and delivery ideas within the course.
