Reading is Important in Learning Languages

Many people think that it is not necessary to read because there are too many information sources and entertainment types such as television, movies, the Internet today. Reading is very useful in many ways, so I think that they are wrong. Excellent reading comprehension is very important in learning languages. As reading is very important in learning a second language, we have devoted a lot of effort to developing reading skills. Many methods have been introduced to improve students' reading skills, but reading is still a seemingly problematic approach. Students can not understand English texts. According to Noormah (2000), these problems arise because students have no vocabulary, difficult to understand words, and low interest in English subjects. In addition to this, there are several factors that change this special skill. Based on Sivaguru (2000), these factors are family, school and social environment. People who are familiar with English and who live in families often mentioned by families can access the language.

The motivation for learning a second language is considered to be one of the main determinants of student achievement. When language learning begins, factors related to the learning environment are the most important factors affecting motivation, and it is most likely to cause learners to lose motivation. The purpose of this empirical study is to explore the students' perceptions of the learning environment of EFL in three areas: physical environment, educational arrangements, and social exchanges. The study also examined the relationship between learning environment and student motivation. A questionnaire survey of 20 college students from private universities in Turkey showed that the motivation of the students has a positive correlation with the learning environment. This study also found that students believe that the physical environment is an obstacle to their learning, and guidance arrangements and social interactions are considered incentive.
