Response to reader Billy Budd I approached Melville's Billville Bud with fear and determination. I first read "Introduction" because I think that the purpose is to introduce the author and put the selected story into the context. Joyce Carol Oates did not warn the spoiler, casually citing Billy's death, so it's too correct. As I know the final result, I think that this knowledge has influenced my reading.

At Billy Budd, crewman of Herman Melville, the readers learned about the conflict between good and evil between Billy Budd and Claggart. But there is another contradiction, that way is more important than the magnificent conflict between good and evil. Vere's struggle between responsibility and conscience is more important as it occurs in the mind. Billy Bud is obviously an expensive sacrificial hero, but Kragart is a barbaric villain with the same responsibilities and conscience, and conscience is as noble as responsibility.

In the play Billy Bird, the author Herman Melvina created two conflicting characters that were portrayed as good and evil. John Claggart (Master-At-Arms) tried to destroy Billybad from the reputation and cognition of the crew. When he was obliged to decide Billy Bad's fate after Kuragat was killed, there was another conflict involving Captain Vale. Billy is a handsome young sailor, a beginner on a boat, I want to be moved. Billy became very popular

Billy Bard of Herman Melville is a story about a young and fascinating sailor, Billy Bard, known as a right transfer from a merchant vessel to the British warship Bellipotent. Billy Bud worked hard on the new boat and won the support of most crew members including Captain Veil. But as it is in the old proverbs, punishing is not a good thing; Billy Budd quickly pulled attention of the owner of the ship, Kragart. Because of his charm, Claggart envies Billy Budd.

There are three main concepts about the meaning of Melville Billibard: First and most supported, Melville's "accepted will", his farewell and last blessing. The second opinion, the reaction to the first opinion, believes that Billy Bad is ironic, its true importance is the very opposite of its superficial meaning. There is still one-third of the explanation that it is possible to deny interpretation; art work has no meaning at all and can be abstracted from it. All three views of Billy Bird are correct in their respective sense.
