After receiving one diagnosis of 13 special learning disabilities (SLD), placing the students in the classroom may make it impossible to understand the actual meaning of the name and how to change the course and how to adapt it. When a person learns disability, there are weak points in memory, generation (output) of information, organization of information, reception (input) of information. Even though the teacher and the entire IEP team are not used to the name of the obstacle, throughout the learning environment, the teacher needs to know how to provide the students the most efficient service.
In order to attract students with learning disabilities such as dyslexia, many sensory techniques are being developed. Slingerland's multisensory approach teaches one character at a time, using visual, auditory and tactile sensations. From this foundation, children make words and sentences. Many philosophies now incorporate polysemory activities into the curriculum. Southeast Portland's mother Amy Bonaduce has a nine-year-old son from the Multisensory Learning Institute. "MLA provides the sensory aspect I am looking for," Bonaduce said. "I like many sensual teaching materials and methods that are practical, paying individual attention and teaching." She is also happy to find sports, art and drama courses.
Certain learning disabilities are considered high risk obstacles. The US Department of Education reported that over 2.8 million students were served due to specific learning disabilities. Of all the children receiving special education services, this number is about 47.4%. Students with learning disabilities are very heterogeneous, meaning that two students do not have the same strengths and weaknesses. The concept of learning disability covers a very wide range of features. A student may have a deficit in only one area, but other students may be defective in many areas, but both may be marked as learning disabilities
