Located in the Emilia Romagna region in the northeastern part of Italy, Ravenna is also the capital of the province, known for its wonderful ancient mosaics and rich history. The rich past of Ravenna is proven in rich examples of Byzantine art and architecture. Ravenna is located in a wetland near the Adriatic Sea and has served three strategic capitals: the Western Roman Empire, the Gothic King Empire, the Europe Byzantine Empire.
