Ralph Ellison 's royal battle "Royal Battle", a short story written by Ralph Ellison, written in 1952. This is a story about a young black man who just graduated from high school. He lives in the south and is encouraged to speak at a rally led by a white citizen. There he was told to participate in the battle of royalty, and there were nine other blacks. After the battle and the speech, he got a calfskin document and received a scholarship from Negros State University.
