The timid Lion of "The Wizard of Oz" rejected his name at least at the beginning of the 1939 movie. We finally learned that he was not a coward; instead he thought that because he did not believe in himself. Before anyone said it, the timid Lion did some brave actions without noticing his courage.

These quotes from the cowardly Lion emphasize his heroic behavior and the time he acted bravely, even if he was afraid.

For the first time, Leo met Dorothy, Scarecrow and Tinman, and Dorothy scoffed at him as he bullied him. She immediately noticed that he was roaring everything:
