Quarterly Report: The 25 Best Nintendo 3DS Games

This quarterly report has a list of 25 best games suitable for each platform. Each platform has a separate report, which will be updated again in the first week of January.

Games whose rating is less than 7 are out of scope. Prior to rounding, the game has been ranked by Metascore. Metascore is a weighted average of important reviews ranging from 0 (poor) to 100 (good). All scores are September 30, 2018

Nintendo 3DS is a portable game machine manufactured by Nintendo. It is the successor to Nintendo DS. An autostereoscopic device can project stereoscopic 3D effects without using 3D glasses or any other accessories. Nintendo 3DS is backward compatible with the Nintendo DS family of software including Nintendo DSi software. After the device was announced in March 2010, Nintendo officially launched the device at E3 2010, and the company recommended participants to use the demonstration device. This console has completed the Nintendo DS series handheld system competing mainly with PlayStation Portable. 3DS competes with Sony's Pocket PC PlayStation Vita

On August 28, 2013, Nintendo released a low cost 2D version of 2DS called Nintendo 2DS. This redesign allows you to play all Nintendo DS and Nintendo 3DS games without the 3D option. Unlike previous DS series machines, Nintendo 2DS is designed like a slate instead of a flip cover. This console was released on October 12th in Europe, North America, and Australia. On August 29, 2014, Nintendo released a new 3DS called New Nintendo 3DS and New Nintendo 3DS XL. It was released in Japan on October 11, 2014, in Australia on 21 November 2014, in Europe on February 13, 2015, and in North America on February 13, 2015. A small version of North America was released on September 25, 2015 and is bundled with the game Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer. In April 2017, Nintendo released the new Nintendo 2DS XL which was released in Japan on July 13, 2017 and released in North America on July 28, 2017.

In 2015, Nintendo released a new Nintendo 3DS XL system in North America. This system provides very stable face tracking 3D and screen which is almost twice the size of Nintendo 3DS. Built-in amiibo support allows players to use amiibo accessories more easily to obtain bonus game content in compatible games. Launched in 2017, Nintendo Switch ™ is a home console that seamlessly transitions to portable handheld devices that gamers can enjoy anywhere. The enclosed Joy-Con ™ controller is connected to the console in handheld mode and can be removed and used separately from compatible games in TV or desktop mode. Functions of this system include built-in amiibo support to make the game more immersive, motion control, HD Rumble, and Nintendo Switch Online * service.
