The Canadian Public Health Service (PHAC) is Canada's leading government agency responsible for Canadian public health, its mission is to promote and protect Canadian health through leadership, partnership, innovation, and public health initiatives . PHAC employs a collective health approach that "is designed to improve the health of the entire population and reduce the inequality of health within the group". This includes some of the main determinants of health. Strengthening the prevention and management of chronic diseases is a tool designed to help public health, primary health care, and the community cooperate to prevent and manage chronic diseases nationwide in the health sector. Its purpose is to help these departments think, discuss and evaluate current practices, abilities and behavioral opportunities. "Focus on determinant" is listed as one of the eight key success factors of this tool.

The Canadian Public Health Bureau has launched a new website on Canada's efforts at the World Health Organization's Committee on Social Determinants of Health. It provides information on Canadian reference groups. And it works with other governments to develop a policy framework to tackle the determinants of health inequality and link to WHO's knowledge network and other resources. Publications outline why they are important, how Canada copes with these problems, and how to improve its quality. The purpose of this document is to develop and implement public policies that increase awareness of social determinants of health problems and improve their quality.

In October 2005, the Canadian Public Health Bureau announced the development of a new set of Canadian public health goals. Since the objective is to provide a series of guidelines for health promotion and to improve the quality of life for Canadians, there is no intention to provide a detailed way to accomplish this. These goals include the following goals: "As a country we are longing for Canada, all are physically, mentally, emotionally and mentally healthy." There are also nine goals that can be divided into four categories. Below we will explain how Canada's nine public health goals ensure that Gender and Gender diversity issues are addressed.
