Public Funding for Genetic Engineering Research

The public finance science of genetic engineering research is part of our daily life. From the clothes on our backs to the food we eat. Science has made it possible for us to advance production, transportation, agriculture and even entertainment. Science has never influenced our lives in our history as genetic engineering is definitely being done. We are standing at the limit of the era when genetic instructions and manipulation of DNA in human cells are no longer fantasies, but a reality that is very controversial.

Part of this research was funded by the French genetic engineering research and independent information committee, the scientific committee to study the risks associated with genetically modified organisms. One of the primary uses of Roundup is genetic engineering for glyphosate crops. Most studies use glyphosate alone, not in combination with inactive ingredients of Roundup. Researchers who studied the Roundup formula led to the same conclusion as the Seralini group. For example, in 2005, an ecologist at the University of Pittsburgh added a Roundup to a pond full of frogs and crickets at the manufacturer's recommended dose. Two weeks later, when they returned, they learned that 50% to 100% of the number of cockroach populations were killed.

Since the start of technology development, there was opposition and support for the use of genetic engineering. After Arpad Pusztai studied his research publicly in 1998, opposition to public opinion on GM food increased. Public debate thesis controversial published in 1999 and 2013 argues that genetically modified crops adversely affect the environment and health, and contrary opinion continues.

Because some people think that genetic engineering plays God, genetic engineering is very controversial. This fact is not for progress of people who do not understand the value of genetic engineering, or because we are afraid of what kind of people genetic engineering brings. One of the discovered histories is genetic engineering, which has produced many products that have brought many applications to the world society. Although genetic engineering is beneficial, genetic engineering also has drawbacks including ethical and legal issues dealt with in today's society.
