This week, my team members and I examined the penetration and diffusion of dissolved NaCl, glucose and soybean through semipermeable dialysis membranes. In a biological system, the substance typically passes through the membrane. The cells are very small, but do many of the basic tasks necessary for the body to function properly. But how do substances flow through these small cells? The most common way in which a substance flows through a cell is by a "passive transport" process, which is not required for energy to act. Passive transport is the transfer of solution from high concentration zone to low concentration zone. Diffusion and invasion are the means of passive transport. Diffusion is the process by which a substance moves from a high concentration region to a low concentration region and penetration is the diffusion of water through the semipermeable membrane.

The aim is to simulate passive transport: diffusion of solute and penetration of water through the semipermeable membrane (dialysis tube). This experiment shows how molecules in solution move from high concentration region to low concentration region to reach steady state under different conditions. The main purpose of the laboratory is to observe diffusion and penetration. This was demonstrated using a dialysis tube and a combination of monosaccharide, disaccharide, water (H 2 O) and sodium chloride (NaCl) (also known as table salt). Next, we calculated the change in mass percentage over time. Due to kinetic energy, cells tend to collide with each other; this is the result of a process called diffusion. Diffusion is the movement of molecules from a high concentration position to a low concentration position. In this laboratory diffusion leads to physical changes (quality) of the cells.
