Proponent and Opponents of Globalization

Advocates and opponents of globalization gave a lot of negative and positive thoughts to the globalization process. Advocates of globalization tend to see the benefits of globalization, but opponents expressed their views on the disadvantages of globalization. Supporters are convinced that free market and government intervention is limited. Preble (2010) argues that globalization has created employment opportunities, higher standard of living, and various products available to consumers.

However, globalization is calling a big controversy. Advocates of globalization believe that poor countries and their citizens can economically develop and improve their living standards. We sacrificed local companies, local culture, and ordinary people. Therefore, if people and governments try to control the flow of capital, labor, goods, and ideas that constitute the current wave of globalization, there is resistance to globalization at both the global and government levels.

But neither the adversaries nor the advocates of globalization will change the fact that global companies face difficult social problems. Probably the most pressing issue is the labor standard problem in countries around the world. Many companies are called "sweatshops" at factories all over the world, or they employ very young children. This problem is complicated, as work conditions, social standards and hopes for child labor are greatly different worldwide. Companies must decide which is the responsible choice. It is whether to adopt your own standards or to implement common standards on a global scale. A related issue is the safety condition of plants around the world.

Companies are increasingly working in the global environment. Business globalization seems to be irreversible, but there are many opponents. Critics believe that globalization leads to exploitation of developing countries and workers, destruction of the environment, and increased human rights violations. We also believe that globalization benefits mainly to the rich and extends the disparity between the rich and the poor. Advocates of globalization believe that open markets will lead to improved standards of living for all, increased wages of workers around the world, and economic development of poor countries. Many large companies are multinational companies and will continue to face legal, social and ethical issues arising from the commercialization of globalization.
