Promoting Intercultural Understanding: International Baccalaureate Program

The IB philosophy that promotes intercultural understanding and respect has been adopted and executed in our school's IB program. Students are encouraged to actively participate in community activities, critically think about themselves and the surrounding world, become a considerate lifelong learner. I adopted this concept before listening to the IB course. I noticed my teenager students are very focused on American pop culture and technology, so they are somewhat forgotten about the real world around them.

The International Baccalaureate (IB) aims to nurture young people through inquiries, knowledge and caring, to help create a better, more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. For this purpose, the organization cooperates with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging international education programs and strict evaluation. In these courses, students around the world are actively caring, encouraging them to become lifelong learners, understand the differences with others and learn what may be right.

The International Baccalaureate (IB) program is regarded as an influence on the development of international education. The IB Diploma Program encourages students to learn and understand a variety of cultures, languages, and perspectives. This idea is incorporated into elements of programs such as creativity, activities, services (CAS). CAS is seeking students to participate in activities promoting these three elements. Through these activities, the aim is that global problems will influence students' understanding of the world in a meaningful way. In particular, these informal, non-academic experiences are necessary for students to better understand the world's problems.

Existing and emerging K - 12 education work - including 1: 1 technical initiative and language, International Baccalaureate program, STEAM and intercultural communication program - to promote student 's global ability. However, while these efforts are widespread, most students still can not use them. Regardless of where you are living, socio-economic status or cultural background, all students are worth having educational experiences that can demonstrate their abilities on a global scale. So, as an educator, how do we constantly create opportunities and provide guidance to ensure global competitiveness to all people? One option is to provide students with ongoing participation in global content, multicultural perspectives, and interdisciplinary fields to solve problems in teaching practice.
