From the late nineteenth century to the early twentieth century, women joined numerous domestic organizations. The National Female Sexual Rights Association, the National Women's Election Association, the rise of the National Colored Women's Association are part of this trend. All background women, including rich, poor, white and black, indigenous Americans, immigrants, etc, participated in these national women's clubs. The Christian abstinence campaign for women who made alcohol illegal was one of the most popular national women's organizations at the time. Their actions succeeded after the nationwide drunken bill of 1919 started.
From 1890 to 1920, women became leaders of various social and political movements. This period is called the progressive era. Progressive reformers hope to end political corruption, improve individual lives, and increase government intervention to protect citizens

The previous generation did not encourage women to participate in public political movements, but society began accepting women's activities in the late nineteenth century. Progressives often argue that women's politics complement the traditional role as wives, mothers, carers, guardians. Margaret Sanger believes that birth control improves family life, especially for working-class people. Charlotte Hawkins Brown strives to allow black children to receive good education. Florence Kelly is struggling to protect women's law at work. By transforming women's traditional social roles into public and political roles this generation of reformers gained broad support for women's voting.
Progressive works very hard to solve the social problem they are passionate about. Perhaps the most influential reformer of the progressive era seen in the newspaper. Ida Tarbell is unique in two respects, she is one of the few female journalists of this era, she is a groundbreaking research journalist, and Theodore Roosevelt calls it "dummy". Perhaps the most famous leader is Apton Sinclair, a journalist who uses sentences to promote his social and political beliefs. His novel "The Jungle" is a tough, alarming and alarming opinion for Chicago's meat packaging industry.
