Kynoch fertilizer was founded in Umbogintwini in 1919. It was originally a producer of explosives, but due to the byproduct of explosive sulfuric acid it quickly began producing fertilizer. In 1924, it merged with Capex to become AE & CI (African Explosives and Chemical Industry) recently taken over by Yara Norsk Hydro. Omnia produces granular liquid fertilizer and special fertilizer. The largest research laboratories, ChemTech Agri is located in Sasolburg and supplies products directly to farmers and wholesalers. In addition to the local supply, we also export from the Johannesburg branch to wholesalers in Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, Angola's Omnia Business Unit, East and South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. They are also exporting increasingly special products to Europe, South America and Asia.

Organic fertilizers are made from natural flora and fauna. Various organic fertilizers help to add various nutrients necessary for plants and crops to the soil. Depending on the type of plant and the type of soil, different fertilizers may be needed. Most fertilizers from animal fertilizers and perishable plants are excellent organic fertilizers. This includes crop residues, animal fertilizers, green manure, organic waste on the farm, recycling compost, and maintains soil productivity and maximum nutrients. Other methods such as biological pest control, crop rotation and leguminous plants are used in organic agriculture. This process is more common in developing and least developed countries because of the lack of chemicals and costs.
