President Roosevelt and The Selective Training and Service Act

Four days after Roosevelt announced the "basic destroyer" agreement, Congress approved the "Selective Training and Service Act" in 1940. This bill passed the military elections of the first peace period in the history of the United States and demanded the man to register the draft between the ages of 21 and 36. The maximum number of selected recruits is 900,000 people, they can participate in one year of training and service and serve only in the Western Hemisphere or US territory. In July 1940, the Democratic Party recommended President Franklin Roosevelt for the third phase that has never been before. In September 1940, Roosevelt received the first American Peace Recruitment Plan, "Selective Training and Service Act" (see selective service). According to the plan, men between the ages of 21 and 35 need to undergo military training for one year. Roosevelt was impressed with the great danger that German aircraft and submarines will survive the United Kingdom. Therefore, in September he transferred 50 American destroyers to the UK in exchange for the eight naval bases in the Western Hemisphere. Fortunately, due to the successful deployment of the destroyer base, the Republican presidential candidate Wendel Wilkie backed this in 1940. As a result, isolationists and others who do not like Roosevelt's assistance to British policy do not make major party choices in elections.

In 1917, Congress passed the Military Selective Service Act (MSSA) at the end of World War I and approved to draft troops as military. President Roosevelt supported the amendment of bills passed by the House of Representatives and the Senate before drafting and end of the war by female nurses during the Second World War. During the Second World War, the country worked on drafting women as nurses, but the surge of volunteers made it unnecessary.
