Dr. Matthew Garibaldi is an associate director and clinical professor at the University of California, San Francisco, and a director of the Orthopedic Surgery Center. Matthew specializes in upper limb myoelectric potential prosthesis and meets the needs of upper and lower limb user. His research focuses on the performance and results of prosthetic surgery and instruments. Matthew received a bachelor's degree in prosthodontics and orthopedics from the University of Washington in 1999. He completed hospitalization of orthopedics and prosthetics at the Harbor View Medical Center in Seattle, Washington. Matthew obtained a master's degree in health management and international professional leadership from the University of California, San Francisco in 2015. He served as Vice Chairman of the California Orthopedic Prosthesis Association and was a founding member of the hospital-based O & P Alliance.

The external power prosthesis is powered by the electric motor and can be controlled by the patient in various ways. The switch control method allows a patient to move his prosthetic device by switching a switch or a button. The patient may be able to use the relative shoulder switch, or he or she may use the remaining muscles of the remaining limb to press the switch. Since professionals and arms can perform various actions, various switching sequences may be required to perform the necessary tasks.

Type of Facility The type of rehabilitation facility to which patients are sent may have a significant impact on the patient's final outcome. After discharge, rehabilitation is usually done at home, and it is one of three places, the skilled medical office (SNF) or inpatient rehabilitation (IRF). According to medical insurance guidelines, the IRF provides at least physician services, onsite physiotherapy, and social or psychological services. They also usually provide prosthetic services and expertise. Rehabilitation physicians usually oversee routine surgery and medical procedures and plan rehabilitation for each patient.
