Considering these paradoxes that make up Polonius with "The Tragedy of Hamlet" and Updike 's novels "Gertrude" and "Claudis", this paper presents an analysis based on the following questions. How does Updike's novel reproduce the personality of Polonius from a contradiction point of view? What did Shakespeare create? b) What is the importance of counselor's critical reading of Shakespeare's work in Gertrude and Claudius? And c) How does the reconstruction of Updike's character Polonius be understood as updating the creative concept of our historical moment?
Gertrude and Claudius in John Updike's novel are the first part of this dramatic event.
