Pollution Prevention Program

NHPPP is a free, confidential, unenforceable, pollution control and compliance support program available to all NH companies, institutions, municipalities and agencies.

In the absence of enforcement risks, you can ask the NHPPP to evaluate compliance issues at your facility and the resulting responsibilities, the impact on health, the way to economically reduce the environmental impact. NHPPP will support answers to facility access, telephone or Internet access, technical search provision, product information transfer, process change investigation, and regulatory questions.

Many pollution control programs incorporate pollution prevention into regulatory programs. Pollution prevention is encouraged or can be carried out in practice. The most common tools for including pollution control in regulation include inspection, enforcement, permission, regulation, multimedia inspection and licensing, and law. For example, pollution prevention can be incorporated into the law enforcement settlement through the P2 Environment Supplement Project (SEP). SEP is an environmentally beneficial project to agree that a violator initiates when resolving enforcement actions. P2 SEP normally requires violators to reduce waste that occurs beyond legal requirements and asks violators to implement more P2 projects than usual.
