There are few occupations that have high requirements for professional ethics standards and enforcement. There are many occupations that require dedicated actions to do the right thing, but there is no doubt that the police have great responsibilities and expectations. Most occupations allow cautious thinking and planning, but the police often fall into a trap of lack of advanced information on what is happening. Often, officials are involved in situations that can become violent.
In recent years, police brutality and excessive use of force have increased particularly in the United States. Despite the benefits of local police presence in the community, their relationship with minorities has always resulted in violent interactions. For example, in the United States, African-Americans died and recent review of the damage has become a focus of attention after the event in Ferguson. The tension between these police and minority ethnic communities has been transmitted by many typical social abuses such as robbery, street battle, drug trafficking and domestic violence.
Police brutality refers to intentional word attacks and excessive attacks on the people. This excessive force may be a form of physical or psychological intimidation. In many countries around the world, especially in the news of such cases, police brutality is very obvious. It is seen as a police cheating including sexual abuse, police corruption, false arrest, race profiling, political oppression. These forms of police brutality are mainly targeted to vulnerable populations such as the poor, the weak and the elderly (Wallace, 2010). Most of these police brutality is related to racial discrimination (agency). In many countries, the police allow arrests of suspects and allow them to exercise force to protect themselves. But they should control every situation and use reasonable power to achieve their goals.
