Poetry, History, and Dialectic

Aristotle contrasts verses with poetry with two dialectics of poetry, history, and poetry. Regardless of its educational value, there seems to be no comparison for readers with special philosophical interests. The purpose of this paper is to prove that this contrast is philosophical not only for understanding the tragedy but also for interpreting Aristotle's holistic methodology. I will show how he uses the method drawn in the theme to define the tragedy and explain why the same method does not define history.
