When David and Jennifer interacted with people in Pleasantville, people began to experience emotions and they changed from black and white to color. Some people preferred this change, but some thought that it was a monster and some people were skeptical about what they did in a perfect society. At Jeffery Jerome Cohen's "Monster Culture (Seven Arguments)" he believes that monsters destroy the usual categories of certain cultures (these are usually male / female, living / dead, human / animal etc It is a binary category). In this movie, the category to be destroyed is the role of male and female, and the difference between normal and abnormal.
