Some people preferred this change, but some thought that it was a monster and some people were skeptical about what they did in a perfect society. At Jeffery Jerome Cohen's "Monster Culture (Seven Arguments)" he believes that monsters destroy the usual categories of certain cultures (these are usually male / female, living / dead, human / animal etc It is a binary category).
