Piracy in China

Chinese pirated version "American Traditional Dictionary" defines copyright infringement as "unauthorized copy of copyrighted or patented material". This is a problem affecting companies around the world. Illegal copying of software, movies, music is commonplace in China. China is the second largest piracy country in the world, and about 92% of China's software is pirated software (Williams 2004). Various companies and governments are trying to crack down on illegal copies, but in recent years it has not been very successful.

Piracy of Chinese movies costs millions of dollars annually to the US movie industry. In this article I will explain the reasons for China's copyright law, the China's WTO commitment, the extent of illegal copying of Chinese movies, and the reasons for the success of illegal copying in China, such as access, price and quality. This paper analyzed three US counterparts: (1) government involvement in the world, (2) Chinese court litigation against Chinese retailers, (3) emphasis on serious damage to the Chinese film industry . In short, this article suggests putting pressure on the Chinese government to suppress the piracy of movies.

Although copyright infringement exists in the Chinese market, there are signs that it is beginning to be countered - copyright infringement is often called "cottage" related to brand imitation and copyright infringement in China. As reported by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), Asia is the largest source of counterfeit and piracy, and China is the largest and only source of its economy1. The Chinese government is acting to fight copyright infringement and adopts a new "consumer protection law" to strengthen efforts to copyright regulation. I believe that this market is more mature and respects copyrights and patents. Chinese companies listed on the US stock exchanges are better partners to comply with the Intellectual Property Act.

Piracy is not limited to the United States. In fact, the United States did not even enter the top ten of illegal copies. Online piracy is occurring all over the world. According to Beijing web designers, China has the biggest piracy problem. 91% of Chinese computers have at least one pirated computer. This means that about 177.5 million computers will contain some illegal copies. It is only in China. A total of 42% of the world's computers piracy information. Online illegal copying often occurs because people do not have the money to pay for what they want or what they need. Adobe Photoshop is the most copyright-infringed software on the Internet, usually $ 1,000. Music is another big thing about illegal copying. People download music for free. If you buy music you can sum it. When people make music pirate, they do not really think they actually steal a lot of money, but the average iPod contains $ 800 pirated music.
