FermiILab is a national physics laboratory affiliated with the Department of Energy specializing in elementary particles. In Fermilab, Tevatron is a four-mile proton accelerator, the world's largest particle accelerator. Fermilab was selected by groundbreaking elementary particle physics research by Italian physicist Enrico Fermi. Brookhaven National Laboratory is also part of the Department of Energy.
