Philosophy and Education: From elitism to democracy Abstract: Philosophy emerges for the first time from Western culture, is believed to build reality, educate people, and reveal the truth. Plato proposed a philosopher as governor of the lifelong pursuit of philosophical learning. Socrates is an ideal example of an educational philosopher: he criticizes tradition and prejudice from a logically consistent point of view awakening human thought so that they can realize themselves and the world .

Dewey is more secular than man, he noted in the "democracy and education" (1916) that the division between elite education and group education is inherited from the ancient Greek division that ancient Greek rulers can. Learn philosophy, escape from useful labor force, get majority support. It is because they are working with both hands and are marked inferior. The subject matter including utility and labor is considered to be smaller than those related to philosophy. He believes that separation of education, experience and practicality, and separation of philosophy and education is a dead end of democratic learning. Therefore, Dewey confirmed the overall curriculum based on experience and philosophy, work and thought, behavior and contemplation.

Democracy is an important organizational concept of Dewey 's political philosophy, but he is thinking in a very unusual way. As he said in democracy and education, it is "not merely a form of government; it is mainly related lifestyle, joint communication experience" (Democracy and Education, MW 9 p. 93). What does Dewey mean about this word? Democracy is not a means for checking political leaders and managers or asking accountability. Dewey believes that this ignores the importance of democracy over a broader social system than this narrow view including the workplace. "Government is located in Washington and Albany" as "superficial" is considered. There is a government "regulating the behavior of their members" in families, businesses, churches, and every social group ("democracy and education management", LW 11, 221).

In the industrial era, John Dewey believes that not all children should be offered the same scheduled course. In democracy and education, he developed a philosophy of education based on democracy. He said that children should actively participate in creative education, but children have to experience democracy to learn democracy, but adult guidance is necessary to grow to responsible adults I believe. The Journal of Democracy and Education investigated "Conceptual rationale relating to democratic education, social policy, institutional structure and education / learning practices". "Democracy education" means "to educate young people ... actively participate in democratic society".
