Personal Waste Generation Measurement and Assessment

Waste generation is the amount of waste that can be produced by humans, including recyclable materials, compostable materials, and reusable items. We measure the amount of recyclable materials (plastic, glass, paper, etc.) for one week for personal waste generation, measurement and evaluation. Measure and calculate the number of reusable items such as clothes, cooking utensils, books, magazines, CDs and DVDs. We also calculated the number of compostable items such as garbage, garden, rope, and dirty paper.

In the graph below, the amount of plastic waste generated per person is displayed in kilogram per person per day. Here, you can see the difference in the order of magnitude. The highest countries - Kuwait, Guyana, Germany, the Netherlands, Ireland, the USA - have more than ten times the per capita plastic waste than India, Tanzania and many other countries, Mozambique and Bangladesh. In the graph below, we calculate the total amount of plastic waste generated per country in tons per ton. Therefore, this takes into account the per capita waste generation and population size. This estimate only applies in 2010, but the relative global situation is similar to the 2025 prediction, as described later in this entry.
