The second food group is vegetables. This category includes vegetables such as tomatoes, pumpkins, broccoli, beans, cabbages, carrots, other leguminous plants, or vegetable assortments. The vegetable plate is about 75 grams, which is a medium potato or cooked 1/2 cup of green or orange vegetables. It is important to preserve these foods in my diet because they are rich in nutrients and low calorie. They contain many antioxidants such as potassium, dietary fiber, folic acid, vitamin A, vitamin B, and vitamin C and E, lutein, quercetin and other important minerals.
MIND diet will encourage mass consumption of 10 "brain-healthy" food groups such as green leafy vegetables, other vegetables, nuts, berries and fish. Restrict intake of unhealthy food group such as red meat, butter and stick margarine, cheese, sweets, processed foods (Note: banned). Alzheimer's and Alzheimer's Diseases: According to the results published in the Alzheimer's Association, the risk of Alzheimer's disease in the elderly adhering to the MIND diet has decreased by 53%. People who follow it moderately reduce risk by as much as 35%
The central and complementary food models classify the food according to the food consumption rate. According to this framework, core food is a food that people often eat and is most likely to be at the center of everyday eating habits (Kittler, 2008, p. 7). Supplement is very important for core balance. They added a well-known flavor related to core foods (Kittler, 2008, p. 8). Secondary foods are abundant, but they consume little, usually not taken more than once a week, everyday (Kittler, 2008, p. 7). Finally, it is a peripheral food that is irregularly eaten.
Per capita food consumption refers to the amount of food per person among the total population. Figure 5 shows the number of food groups and consumption. As you can see from the figure, cereals other than beer and milk-free butter are decreasing in this period, but they are the main food category of consumption. From the viewpoint of food security, this is not a good sign of progress in the state of national food security. Root of starch and alcoholic beverages are the type of food consumed most in Botswana. The HIES report for 2002/03 also shows changes in household consumption patterns. Alcohol and tobacco categories are still the most consumed food in the food category (HIES 2002/03)
