Do you remember how we compare with ordinary everyday objects? Today's everyday poem exercises will look at this event again, with one exception. This may be a physical thing you can see, touch and grab things. It can also be thought and abstraction (things that can neither see nor touch or hold). After writing your metaphor, please write a short sentence to explain your metaphor. What does this mean? Why does it function as a metaphor? Be sure to write your personal metaphor and the comments below in your writing journal.
I compare myself to a book. The book tells a story. It is sometimes a story of sadness, happiness, and anger. Sometimes I am sad, happy, and angry. I am talking. A unique story. I am a writer and my role is my friends and family. Books sometimes do you the day, sometimes it is not just like me. I can make you happy, sad, angry. I can also wonder. People do not like me, I do not like books. People read, but they did not end. The same can be said to me, people are my friends and I will leave the next day.
David Lynch is a master of the metaphor of the movie. All his works are worth considering ways to treat metaphor in bold, simple and creative ways, like Twin Peaks on TV shows. He is good at preparing personal figurines and symbols. The opening scene of the movie Fire Walk was done at the airport with me (a new start); this was the whole movie. A dancer in a red dress came out to quickly make a pantomime, but just as three detectives carefully observed it, he said nothing. Then in the car, the detective asked what the experienced girls meant. Below is a chart of metaphor and symbol that classifies the "Dancing Girl" scene. As long as the characters do not interpret them, the audience will never understand the meaning of this symbolic language. It makes the metaphor a personal creation of the cinema producer.
As computers are "personalized", a metaphor in the office environment is introduced. The desktop metaphor is the first instance of a bridge that has to migrate from abstraction to familiar ones. When using a more personalized mobile device with a touch screen, more accurate operational details are required to make the object complete and accessible. People are finally familiar with the extent to which visual interfaces, ie the use of text surface metaphor, are obsolete. Avoidance of affordable and visual interface components can be understood without illusion. The definition of the term "button" is also converted from the private domain to the virtual domain.
Concept metaphor: In cognitive linguistics, a metaphor is defined as understanding concept domains based on different concept domains; for example, using person's life experience to understand the experiences of different people. The conceptual field can be an organization of any coherent experience. A map is a set of systems that exist between source and target domain components. Many elements of the target concept come from the source domain, not existing ones. In order to know the conceptual metaphor, we need to know the mapping set applied to the pairing of given source and target. The same idea of mapping between source and target is also used for explanation of analogy and reasoning.
