I do not know if you know, but this movie is based on a book written by Stephen Jobssky as "privileges of wallflowers". I have never seen this movie myself, but I can only imagine what I saw in the trailer - they seem to have taken books and Hollywood (due to the lack of a better term). The book itself has a very clear understanding of Charlie 's inner thoughts and emotions about all the events he experienced between Sam and Patrick. If you like this movie, I encourage you to read this book to really understand Charlie's view. It's short, there are more than 300 pages, but everything has its own meaning.
