Elements are summarized in a special chart called periodic table. The Periodic Table of the Elements is a graphical representation of elements and their attributes. The various lines in the table are called periods. Elements are arranged in ascending order according to their atomic number (the number of protons in the nucleus). This table allows the user to identify the relative attributes of the element from the position in the table. Physical change involves energy and material state, substance itself does not change.
