Performance Measurement Systems in Business

Commercial companies appear to be similar and may rely on the guidance of the organization model. However, in fact, as a unique arrangement for organization model, design, and practice, every business is unique. Every project is adopted to support business strategies that can not be imitated. Performance assessment is important to assess the performance of the organization as a whole and the results are used in strategic planning to develop a series of strategies to achieve sustainable business success (Tapinos & Dyson, 2005).

Indicators developed from this perspective are divided into three main categories: driver indicators, process indicators, and result indicators. The key to measuring the success or failure of the system is the commitment to leadership, the involvement and empowerment of employees, and the coordination and management of information. (Shen et al., 2005) proposed a method to measure the contractor's environmental performance score (EPS) to measure the environmental performance of the contractor's commitment to construction work. EPS level is a simple indicator to measure and communicate contractor's environmental performance level.

A performance measurement system (PMS) has been in use for a while, and even if it is used frequently by business, measuring performance is what people regularly do.
