Pedro Menendez de Aviles

In 1549, Menendez de Aviles was ordered by Charles V to expel pirates off the coast of Spain. As a savage and effective fighter, he was appointed captain of the Indian fleet in five years.

As Don Pedro was appointed commander of the Spanish fleet, he is responsible for overseeing trade between Spain and the United States.
