Parent-Child Relationship

Parents play an important role in the growth and life of children. According to the psychology encyclopedia, parenting practice is universal because there are three common goals. To ensure the health and safety of children, to prepare children for adult living, and spread cultural value. While contemporary inventions and companion pressure are affecting children's behavior, unduly controlled parents can use these features to develop their children.

Young people who take disruptive and antisocial behavior have a history of poor parentage and parents' negligence. A problem youth study shows that unsafe attachment and negative parentage relationships promote parental repression, high or uncertain reactions, casual familiarity, and obvious psychopathology . These children do not trust or get angry about their parents, they do not accept morals of their parents and can not adjust emotions during childhood or adulthood (Elgar, Knight, Worrall & Sherman, 2003).

The relationship between parents and children is the most important of the various relationships that develop in people's lives. The quality of parent-child relationship depends on the parent's age, experience, self-confidence, parent's marriage stability, and the unique characteristics of the child compared to the parent. Parental confidence is an important indicator of parents ability. A mother who thinks herself as a valid parent is more competent than a mother who feels incompetent. Furthermore, mothers who think that they are effective are easy to think that their babies are difficult to handle. Parent's age and previous experience are also important.
