The Papua New Guinea Nurses Association (PNGNA) expects the Labor Employment Health Bureau to close Lorengau Hospital. Their complaint is based on the medical examination conducted by the Ministry of Labor and Employment in February this year that condemned the hospital. Health checkup in February was conducted according to the PNGNA safety inspection requirement of last November. In a letter to the Director in charge of Occupational Safety and Health, Liga Tanu, a hospital safety technology manager, said, "Lorengau public hospital is strongly recommended to be closed indefinitely."

Papua New Guinea is one of the most diverse countries in the world. There are hundreds of indigenous peoples in Papua New Guinea. Most of them come from a group called Papuans, whose ancestors arrived in New Guinea tens of thousands of years ago. The other indigenous people are south islanders whose ancestors arrived in this area 4000 years ago. There are many people in other parts of the world, such as China, Europeans, Australians, Indonesians, Filipinos, Polynesians, Micronesians (the latter belong to the family of the south island). In 1975, about 40,000 foreigners (mainly from Australia and China) lived in Papua New Guinea.

The Papua conflict is a constant confrontation between the Indonesian government and indigenous peoples of Papua New Guinea (Papua) in Indonesia, and the Indonesian government condemns the Indonesian government for the massacres against indigenous peoples. In 1962 the Dutch colonial government withdrew from New Guinea, the governance of Indonesia was implemented in 1963 and the free Papua movement (Indonesia: Organisasi Papua Merdeka) was introduced since Papua was officially absorbed in Indonesia in 1969 it was done. Perform a modest guerrilla war against Indonesian troops and target military and police to participate in the abduction of Papua Indonesian settlers and foreigners

Indonesia, which promised Papua New Guinea to play a greater role in ASEAN in the future, in spite of the refugee crisis occurring at the border between Papua New Guinea and West Papua in 2012, indirectly endorsed Indonesia. By 2017 Indonesian genocide against West Papuan indigenous peoples peaked, nearly 50% of indigenous people died in 50 years. This perception has caused strong opposition from Oceania countries to Papua New Guinea West Papua policy. In January 2017, Papua New Guinea gave 138 West Papua refugees citizenship rights for tension relief. In September 2017, Papua New Guinea dismissed West Papua Independent Petition at the UN General Assembly to meet the needs of Indonesia.
