Palestinian Refugees and the Issue of Jerusalem

Since Israel was founded in 1948, there was a long and difficult conflict between Israelis and Palestinians. Despite repeated attempts to negotiate the final peace agreement, all efforts failed. Two concrete problems, the issue of Jerusalem and the issue of Palestinian refugees, remain as a central issue of the final peace agreement. Both of these problems are very controversial, emotional and political, and therefore require extensive review over many years.
