Pagan and Christian Concepts of Fate in Beowulf

The author of Beowulf combines the concept of faith with Christians' fate concept to promote the monarchy and has the power to inherit the throne institutional heritage through heirs, not the greatest and most powerful warrior. By attributing destiny to achievement and claiming that it is an act of God, the author reduces glory appeals. This new interpretation of destiny shows how accumulation of glory and glory brings more violence, which in turn will not make glory very satisfactory.

Therefore, the conflict between paganism and Christian faith can not really be solved by the poet itself.

It is believed that beliefs of Christians and heathens may be related to personal views on their destiny, but Beowulf seems to have no response to that belief in fate. It is proven in the whole poem that Beowulf fights demons to protect his people (Breeden, 2). It was not due to his great effectiveness and courage, it produced a form of security that did not exist. In order to achieve fate as the main purpose of life, Beowulf participated in the struggle of evil Dragons. The hero decided that many of his actions were strongly dominated by his beliefs about fate and the fact that everything might happen in his life. .
