Our Nursing Heritage

We live in a country with diverse cultures. In order to provide patients with the highest quality care, they need to be culturally competent nurses (American College of Nursing Association [AACN], 2008, ¶ 2). I used the heritage assessment tool as a guide to interview three families. The first is my own Russian heritage, the second one is a colleague with a strong Chinese tradition, and the third one is a young single mother with a Hispanic heritage. These interviews gave me a deeper understanding of their views on their health maintenance, protection and recovery.

Culturally competent nurses must have the following four aspects: (1) your own personal legacy (found through heritage assessment tools), (2) heritage of nursing professionals, And (3) heritage of the health system. Patient 's heritage (it is also useful to use heritage assessment tools). Study all sorts of health checkups and assessments throughout nursing education, including health history, mental health assessment and nutritional assessment

What is heritage evaluation? The heritage assessment is a subordinate part of the overall care assessment. By evaluating the patient's heritage, the nurse can obtain more information about the patient's culture, including information about health and value. This is important to provide cultural health care. Human heritage contains information on their cultural beliefs, practices of family and ethnic religious communities (Jarvis, C., 2012). Through heritage assessment, nurses can obtain a lot of information on patients / families, including family home times, number of brothers and family members from other countries, family time, family, religion, patient's wishes I can do it.
