Definition of osteogenesis Definition of osteogenesis (OI) is a rare genetic disorder of collagen synthesis related to a wide range of musculoskeletal problems, particularly limb flexion and fractures, muscle weakness, ligament relaxation and spinal deformity. (Binder, 386). Other extraosseous tissues including collagen such as sclera, teeth and heart valves are also affected to varying degrees. OI has a common feature "collagen-related bone fragility formed by osteoblasts and fibroblasts" (Smith, 1983, 13). This disease, including connective tissue dysplasia, is usually an automated result.
