Running records is a way to evaluate reading and you can do it quickly and frequently. This is another formative assessment underway and based on the curriculum. It graphically expresses the spoken language of the student and identifies patterns that are used in effective strategies and invalid strategies. This approach was developed by Marie Clay, founder of Read Recovery, as well as error analysis developed by Kenneth Goodman. The operational record is aimed at continuous evaluation and is carried out at the beginning of the year in order to monitor the progress of the reading, and should be repeated over a period of usually one year. These evaluations are valuable as teachers not only offer opportunities to learn more about the needs and advantages of individual students but also provide time to talk with individual students. In addition, the results of these evaluations are very valuable when communicating with individual parents.
