Repression refers to abuse by one or a group of people, by power or by a group of people, by power or cruel or unfair way of misuse of power or social position due to prejudice against the underlying people. In many of our societies today we still have female repression, the first woman in the United States trying to overcome oppression. The oppression that occurs is psychological, basically men are biased and unfair to women, but in other parts of the world women's suppression means physical or sexual abuse. Women are always lower than men, but in the 1800's, movement shook the ship.
Not all the oppression of women all over the world can be explained by culture. However, the examples vary widely. It is diverse, from women forced to marry with her will under the name of religion to women who are expected to endure sexual harassment at work. The Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) has been almost universally ratified. Every country agrees with the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The right of women is human rights, there is no room for culture in discussion.
Many women are still oppressed. Women are often despised. Women's oppression is a result of the superiority of many years of men and leads to their loss of rights.
