The memoir of Binyavanga Wainaina "Let's write the date on this place" is an attractive memoir that depicts the author's life in Kenya. The title itself indicates that the book reminds the reader of an important story, but the story's name has not been changed and the setting has not been decided. The reader can read books from several different perspectives, but the most important point is the story of a boy who grew up in Kenya after a colonial era as a professional writer.
Like the famous Kenyan writer Binyavanga Wainaina wrote in his famous satire article, "Africa is like a country ... the continent of Africa is full of desert, jungle, highlands, savannah .... .. However, the reader does not care about everyone, please remember your explanation.
The writer project I wrote first was the residence of Fa Rafina 2012 led by the indomitable Chimamanda · Ngodi · Ashish, Vinyavang · Winaina, Rob Spillman, Asrak · Maile, Jeffrey · Allen. Such a place of residence gives me confidence to imagine myself as a writer. And the lessons learned from this experience still stimulate my writing. Farafina seminar, many of us gathered and we produced an episode "sex and sex is absolutely not love", so we did one thing. Yemisi Aribisala's prolonged memoirs were also prepared for some background stories behind this collection. Also, you need to purchase her book anyway, this is one of my best reading in 2017.
One evening, guest lecturer, Kenyan writer Binyavanga Wainaina took Adichie to Lagos' darker nightlife. He asked where she is. She does not know. "I am a good middle class girl," she said with a smile. "I do not know these places." But she is very serious. She does not know. So we called Adichie's childhood friend Chuma. He suggested Ovalend of Lagos known for the night club and strip club. Chuma went to pick us up and pushed us to the block where fish and psyllium were blown off the street. The air was full of weeds. He chose a sloping corrugated steel roof and a club for blasting blowjobs. We sat outside on a wet night, Adichie's game, but spread his eyes. We received a street musician's visit we did not go.
I am afraid of Binyavanga. When I saw his invitation, I accepted it without thinking. After all, it is Binyavanga Wainaina. Then anxiety came. I am having dinner tomorrow. When I got home, I reached his book - one day I will write this place. There is a dirty curry in the lid. After reading it, I handed it to my brothers. He handed it to my sister. It came back to me with other dirt. I decided to ask him to sign. I want to read this book again, so I can ask Binyavanga about important issues. But I am different. I am from Lusikisiki, I know what he wrote about Mthatha during his student days. The texture of this book is as familiar as the caress of my favorite jacket. He knits the thread to draw the world I know. I see them in a new way. I would like to visit a world I do not know.
