Oklahoma History Center

Oklahoma National Historical Day was held at the Oklahoma Historical Center in May. Awards will be awarded at 2:30 pm every day. After the award conference, there is a short essential meeting for students to continue participating in national competitions.

Competition in the junior division will be held on Wednesday, May 1st and competition in the senior division will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2019.

A fee of $ 10 per registered student is paid by check or order form (PO) and must be sent by April 15. All students must register separately for group projects

When using purchase order form, please enter check number and check number at the time of registration. If you need an invoice please send an e-mail to sdumas@okhistory.org. A bill will be sent.

This site will be locked at midnight Wednesday before the state convention. Be sure to save all revisions and post your website

You can pull the main door and load it. Pick up items and park immediately. When the vehicle is parking, all items should remain on the curb

If you want to eat at the hotel, you can use Winnie Mae Café (limited menu). If you want to bring lunch, the museum offers several places for students to eat outdoors. If you are planning to leave the historic center for lunch, please return to the museum at 2:15 PM for the awards ceremony.

Do not forget to buy buttons and T - shirts at state competitions. For winners who won first place and second place in the state contest, T - shirts of the national competition are awarded.

Early Kiowa photographers included Parker McKenzie and his wife Nettie Odlety who appeared in the collection of the Oklahoma History Center in 1913. Kiowa's photographer Horace Poolaw (1906-1984) was one of the most prolific Native American photographers in his generation. He recorded the people of Kiowa near the community which started living in Mountain View, Oklahoma in the 1920s. His legacy, Thomas Poolaw, is a famous Kiowa photographer and digital artist.

The history of Oklahoma is the history of Oklahoma and the land that the state currently occupies. The East Oklahoma strip was bought for purchase in Louisiana in 1803, and Panhandle was not bought before the Mexico - American acquisition after the American War. Historians David Baird and Danny Goble have explored the essence of the historical experience of the people of Oklahoma.
