Special Interest Housing (SIH) provides students with unique opportunities to work with other students by building an affinity community with common goals and objectives. SIH creates conditions for participation in citizenship and autonomy and enables independent living environments around common themes, problems, or interests. The SIH program promotes social and intellectual development of groups and individuals while contributing to the knowledge and social life of the laboratory.

Each SIH program must identify the student who will be a liaison between the residence, the residence and the program.

House managers help manage the plans outlined in the SIH Charter and Objectives. In addition, Housing Manager participates in opening and closing houses at the beginning and end of each term, maintains an accurate and up-to-date list of students planned, and reports on facility and safety issues.

Each SIH team will identify and continue to work with teacher advisors to implement planning, program goals and expectations and to find guidance / suggestions related to house programs.

Special interest rate housing may occupy a building or part of a larger facility. Residence Life & Housing reviews every year. Groups that assign residences to special interest professionals are expected to fill group spaces with group members.
