The mission of the Nutrition Supplement Department (ODS) is to promote dietary supplements by the evaluation of scientific information, promotion and support of research, dissemination of research results, and public education to improve the quality of life and health of the United States It is to strengthen knowledge and understanding. It is a population. NIH clinical center is NIH clinical research hospital. Through clinical research, physicians and scientists convert test results into better treatment, treatment, and intervention to improve national health.

Over the past five years, ODS has made a lot of efforts to improve the quality of dietary supplement research. For example, ODS has strengthened analytical methods, developed standard reference formulations for nutritional supplements and established a program to create two databases that anyone can use. Computer Access International Bibliographic Information (CIDDS) for Dietary Supplement Research Database (CARDS) and Dietary Supplements CARDS contains information on Federal Government funded dietary supplement research and is constantly updated. IBIDS provides bibliographic citations on dietary supplements and a summary of published international scientific literature. Additional resources for the research community and the public are evidence-based review reports submitted through partnerships established by the AHRQ evidence-based practice center through ODS and NCCAM.
