Sophocles on TV are very happy; but of course there are cute, talented Lili Palmer, wonderful Orson Welles, fascinating Cyril Cusack, and prominent Donald Sutherland who plays the most unusual role and of course faithful Christopher ยท Plummer and Richard Johnson, its influence may be a headache
I recommend this movie to those who care about drama and performance. I do not think that this movie was successfully put into the market by a movie company and many people who want to see this movie can not see it.
The scene where Oedipus unconsciously killed his own father was caught in the movie in a very surprising way and suggested that perception of father and son is completely unbelievable .
Jocasta (Lili Palmer) is top notch - perhaps she is the best character ever. Cyril Cusack, Orson Wells, Donald Sutherland add a further flavor to this amazing work
I always get a spectacular scan of the subject as a famous movie photographer, Walter Lassali, did not choose to film a letterbox or a movie screening. The format used by Lassally limits the movie to the screenplay level rather than the celluloid's performance. Even with this error, this movie is still one of my favorites. I admire the cast of Phillip Saville - put together a wonderful actor on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean
I am wondering whether ancient Greeks can appreciate dramas better than color screens with special effects.
The Greeks of ancient Oedipus were known for their tragedy. The function of these plays is "to propose the human nature, his position in the universe, and the power to dominate his life" ("Greek" 1). Brereton (1968) pointed out that tragedy usually involves "a final and impressive disaster, as unexpected failures and unsatisfied fails bring respect and compassion." Collapse that has been heard over generations Sophocles' Greek play Oedipus Rex is such a collapse and represents the aristocratic king suffering from unimaginable tragedies. Sys caused the compassion and fear of those who read and watched many generations.
As a tragedy of Greece, Oedipus, written by Sophocles (BC 496 - 406 BC), claimed the definition of a tragedy by Aristotle (384 - 32 BC). The first criterion of Greek tragedy is that the hero is a good person, a double blessing, a good heart, and a high will. Sophocles soon revealed that Oedipus was such a person at the beginning of the play. As often seen in Greek tragedies, Edeps is also a nobleman. - Sophocles' satire use is the greatest ever in history, as was successfully proved by the King of Oedipus. He uses irony in various ways to express ambition and understated humor. Regardless of whether it is cosmic or dramatic, and the irony of words to add a higher level intelligence. Each word mentioned has large symbolic meaning, and these words help to reflect the story of the plan of God.
